you will find useful tips that have been
specially written by the National Park team.
We recommend you to read them carefully,
because they give you precaution measures
and official information about the activities
that can be done in Los Glaciares National
Park. |

If you are driving |
|
Remember that the roads
to the Park aren’t paved, and that driving on unpaved
routs requieres patience and precaution. Drive safely,
with the lights on and the safety belt fastened. If
it is possible, carry a spare tire, and some gallons
of gas. During the winter season, ask for the state
of roads before you leave. Also you must have nailed
tires or chains and extra clothes, hot water, food and
a heater. |

If you are camping |
|
This
few rules can prevent many inconviniences:
- Camp only where allowed.
- Do not carve or cut the trees.
- Put your tent more than 50 m.
far from the water.

If you go fishing |
|
Trout fishing is a sport
, so you have to get a fishing permit. |

If you go walking |
|
Before starting, choose
an excursion according to your capacity. Let the ranger
know about your trip. During the trekking, do not leave
the trail and do not try to make shortcuts. |

If you are going to light
a fire |
|
Before
lighting a fire, consider this reccomendations:
- Do it only where allowed.
- Gas heaters are more practical,
cleaner and safer.
- To light a fire look for an existing
fire place or do it far from the trees.
- Use dry firewood that can be
found on the ground and tore with your hands.
- Try to keep the fire small.
- Put out the fire with plenty
of water.
- The ashes must be cold.

Trash |
|
The
Park has no trash recolection service, therefore, it
is everybody’s responsability:
- Bring back everything you took.
If you take a bag, you can bring your trash back.
- Keep the environment clean, taking
also the trash you find on the way.
- Burying the trash harms the fauna.
- If there are latrines, use them;
if not, dig a small hole more than 100 far from
the water and then cover it.
- Use the paper trash to light
the fire.
- Remember: cigarettes, toilet
paper, diapers and tampax are not part of the natural
environment.

Wild animals |
|
Wild
animals are an attraction themselves and can be regarded
as a gift of nature, but do not forget the risk within
this experience.
Please, read carefully this reccomendations:
- Los roedores forman parte de
la fauna del lugar. Si acampa, evite dejar los alimentos
a su alcance.
- Wild species change their mood
easily, try not to make noise or bother the animals.
- Do not feed them, this can result
in changes of behavior.
- Rodents are part of the local
fauna. If you are camping, do not leave your food
where they can reach it.

The Puma
You are inside the Puma’s territory, follow this suggestions:
- Do not walk alone.
- Do not leave children unattended.
- Do not take your pets with you.
If you meet one:
- Do not run or loose your temper.
- Try to look bigger: raise your
arms and do not bend.
- Go away slowly without turning
back.

Cultural patrimony |
|
Archeological and paleontological
sites are protected by law. It is not enough, though,
their preservation depend on us. |

Water |
|
Water
is the main Park’s resource, help us to preserve it:
- Settle your tent far from the
water streams.
- Use a container to bathe, wash
the dishes and clothes. Do not do any washing in
the water streams, it will allow us to keep drinking
pure water.
- All soaps and detergents are
contaminators.
- Drink only running water.
