Money and exchange
If you are a foreign tourist, remember that the Argentine’s currency is the Peso, and from January 11, 2002, the currency is free (In January, U$S 1.00 = $ 1.40, in April U$S 1.00 reachs $ 3.00). If you need to change money, traveler checks or other Bank services, the only place to do it is in El Calafate, though most shops accept dollar notes.
